The Hall of Collapsing Columns

The Baobhan-sith Trilogy

Dreams Made Flesh

Severance

The Captive Heart (WIP)

This trilogy is authored by Nightsister. If you are interested, the name is derived from a dark tribe of the Witches of Dathomir who appear in the Star Wars novel The Courtship of Princess Leia and in the Young Jedi Knights series. The stories were inspired by the character of Qui-Gon and certain elements from the Star Wars films and comic books.

Dreams Made Flesh is the first story in a series of dark fantasy/gothic romance reworkings of certain themes and characters from the Star Wars universe. These stories contain elements from Celtic myth cycles, so expect fey folk, magic and pagan religion as well as the creepy shadows, dark castles, menacing villains, hidden monsters and doomed lovers of the Gothic genre.

Set ten years before events in The Phantom Menace, Dreams Made Flesh sees Qui-Gon Jinn embracing an unexpected destiny and a forbidden love in the heart of the old Sith empire only to encounter the Dark Side on his return to Coruscant.

You can read Dreams Made Flesh by clicking on the link above (alternatively you can find it on the Qui-Gon Jinn Estrogen Brigade or Temple Voices archives where there are also lots of other great stories). You should be aware, though, that Dreams Made Flesh contains scenes of horror, sex, violence, vampirism, torture and sexual harassment, so you really mustn't be squeamish about this sort of stuff and you should be18 or over to read it. However, although the story is most definately for grown-ups, the sex and violence are neither pornographic nor gratuitous.

Severance takes place ten years after Dreams Made Flesh, that is shortly before, during and after the events of The Phantom Menace. Qui-Gon has accepted the changes in his life and is now about to face his destiny. Click on the link above to read the story thus far. Like Dreams Made Flesh, this story was originally written for the Qui-Gon Jinn Estrogen Brigade, and thus rather, ahem, adult in nature, so please don't enter if you are underage or of a nervous disposition. (Again, it's on the Qui-Gon Jinn Estrogen Brigade or Temple Voices archives.)

The Captive Heart is set during the time of the original trilogy. Although Qui-Gon Jinn will play a pivotal role in the story, the main characters are Leia Organa and Han Solo. It is currently completed up to chapter 14. Further chapters will be posted here during 2001 (I apologise for any delays but I am now in full-time employment and have less time to write fan fic).

Whilst these stories alter Star Wars facts and established canon in several respects, and should therefore be considered Alternate Universe (that scene from Phantom Menace does happen but not with the same result or quite the same consequences as Lucas envisaged), I have tried to place them firmly within the official Star Wars continuity. Apart from a few things I really wanted to change or give a different explanation for, I have kept as much of the film, book and comic canon as I could. As least as far as I could with all those odd Celtic vampire twists that keep getting thrown in to the mix (and I haven't read everything that's been published either).

In particular, the old Sith empire and some of the background details of Dreams and Severance were drawn from The Tales of The Jedi comics: The Golden Age of the Sith, The Fall of the Sith Empire, Knights of the Old Republic, The Freedon Nadd Uprising, Dark Lords of the Sith, The Sith War and Redemption. Whilst the art work of these comics sometimes has something to be desired, the stories are far more fascinating than much of the other material in the Star Wars publishing universe.

The stories were written to the music of Dead Can Dance, This Mortal Coil, Clan of Xymox, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Joy Division and several other darkwave bands - many of the chapter titles point the way. However, I have been reliably informed that the music from Babylon 5 also provides a suitably dark and Sithy atmosphere when reading Dreams.

Not being an artist and thus incapable of illustrating the fic myself, I nevertheless had some images and pictures in mind for my hero and heroine when I started writing Dreams Made Flesh.

Star Wars and the Star Wars characters belong to George Lucas and Nightsister only plays with them for her own amusement and gets no financial reward for her pains.

Special thanks to Eva who has been a patient beta reader and kept me on the straight and narrow. Also to Elaine, Jackie and Angie - their comments have been astute and more than helpful.

The title for this page is a line from the poem Rhetorical Questions by Hugo Williams.
"And do you think I mind
when the blank expression comes
and you set off alone
down the hall of collapsing columns."
